Barkle's origins trace back to a collaborative effort involving the University of Pennsylvania's Medical and Dental schools alongside the Veterinary School. Dr. Walter Cohen, former Dean of the Dental School, recognized a pressing need for a solution to combat periodontal infection in dogs.
As Barkle embarked on its journey, a pivotal revelation emerged—dogs develop plaque and tartar primarily on the outer surfaces of their teeth. This groundbreaking insight paved the way for an owner-friendly solution. Barkle, designed to easily and gently prevent plaque and tartar, is a dog-friendly alternative to brushing that improves oral health.
Barkle has undertaken a mission to confront the epidemic of periodontal disease in dogs. This will be accomplished by educating the public about the reality of periodontal disease while acknowledging the impracticality of daily brushing and expensive cleanings under anesthesia. Barkle envisions a future where the seamless incorporation of daily application becomes a routine for pet owners, under the supervision of a veterinarian.
Barkle aspires to redefine canine oral care, establishing daily prevention as the new standard. The envisioned future includes the introduction of an easily accessible at-home diagnostic device for the early detection of infections, fostering positive and proactive oral health for your dog.
Graduating from West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 1969, he earned a DDS degree and a Governor's Scholarship for Academics at WVU, laying the foundation for his groundbreaking journey.
Furthering his education at Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry, Dr. Crossetti secured a Certificate and Master's degree in Periodontics. While his commitment to breath treatment led to the development of the only Breath Treatment Center in Illinois, his most significant impact is felt in the world of canine oral health.
Teaming up with chemist Michael Nickels PhD, Dr. Crossetti played a pivotal role in crafting the formula for Barkle canine gel - an innovative treatment for preventing and managing periodontal disease in dogs. This duo is shaping the path for oral health in our beloved pets.
Dr. Crossetti continues to stand at the forefront of advancing Barkle, leaving an enduring legacy for optimal oral care in dogs.
